Oat & Lemongrass Body Wash

Written by Nipa Shah

Here’s a nourishing body wash that is sure to delight the senses. With just five, easily available ingredients, this DIY body wash is easy and will leave your skin silky smooth

  1. Oatmeal. Oatmeal has natural cleansers called saponins that exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells and impurities and make the skin silky smooth.
  2. Lemongrass is hands down my favorite aromatherapy fragrance. [I even have lemongrass plants which I guard with my life cause lemongrass is not an easy plant to grow and requires a lot of TLC.  I primarily use its leaves in my tea – it’s delicious taste and fragrance totally addictive.]
But lemongrass is not just noteworthy for its aroma, it also has antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. And that’s why it’s my favored essential oil over all others. [The scent can be overpowering so be extra cautious about its over-use.]

INGREDIENTS

1/4 cup oats
6 – 12 drops lemongrass essential oil
1/4 cup liquid castile soap
1 tbsp vitamin E oil
2 tsp honey
2 tbsp coconut oil (melted)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Place oatmeal in a large bowl and pour the boiling water over it.  Allow the mixture to sit for 2 hours, then blend the mixture into a fine paste.
  3. Mix the castile soap, lemongrass essential oil, vitamin E oil, honey, and coconut oil with a whisk until fully mixed.
  4. Add the soap-oil mixture to the oat infused water. Mix gently to reduce foam.
  5. Pour mixture into a dispenser and use it as desired.

This body wash keeps for a long time and should be especially used to moisturize dry skin during the dry winter months.
